Overview
The Banke Bihari Mandir is one of India's most revered temples, dedicated to Lord Krishna in his "Banke" (bent in three places) and "Bihari" (supreme enjoyer) form. Established by the saint-musician Swami Haridas in the 16th century, the deity was originally worshipped in the nearby Nidhivan. Unlike other temples, no bells or conchs are sounded here, as it is believed they would disturb the "child-like" slumber of the Lord. A unique feature is the curtain (parda) in front of the deity, which is opened and closed every few minutes to prevent visitors from looking into the Lord's eyes for too long, as it is said his intense gaze could overwhelm the devotee.

Monkey Menace: Extremely high. Do not wear glasses/sunglasses or carry bags openly; monkeys are notorious for snatching them.
Crowd Safety: On weekends, the crowd can be overwhelming. Avoid bringing small children or seniors during peak hours.
Shoe Management: Use the free/paid shoe stalls outside the main lane. Do not carry shoes in bags as it’s considered disrespectful.
The Curtain Legend: Watch the "Parda" (curtain) being pulled; it's a unique tradition to ensure the Lord doesn't get "tired" of the constant gaze of devotees
Avoid Middlemen: Many people will offer "quick darshan" for money; these are unauthorized. Stick to the main queues.
Lassi & Malai: Try the famous Vrindavan Lassi and Makhan Mishri at the shops just outside the temple exit.
