Jallianwala Bagh and Museum
Highlights
Overview
Jallianwala Bagh is a poignant memorial marking one of the darkest chapters in India's freedom struggle . On April 13, 1919, during the Baisakhi festival, British General Dyer ordered unprovoked, continuous firing on thousands of peaceful protesters, resulting in hundreds of casualties . Today, the site stands as a beautifully maintained park and museum. Visitors can witness the original bullet marks preserved on the walls and the tragic "Martyrs' Well" where many jumped to escape the gunfire . The site also features an Amar Jawan Jyoti (eternal flame) and modern galleries explaining the event.
