Overview

Tiger Hill is the highest point in Darjeeling, standing at an altitude of 2,590 meters (8,500 ft). It is globally renowned for its spectacular sunrise view, where the first rays of the sun illuminate the twin peaks of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Everest. Located approximately 11 km from Darjeeling town within the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, it offers a panoramic 360-degree view of the Eastern Himalayas. The site features a multi-level observatory tower for tourists to comfortably watch the dawn spectacle.

Reach the summit by 4:00 AM to secure a good viewing spot, as the observatory fills up quickly.

If taking a private vehicle, you must obtain a traffic permit from the Darjeeling Traffic Police Office the day before.

Dress in heavy woolens (gloves, caps, jackets) as it is extremely cold and windy before sunrise, even in summer.

Carry a thermos with hot coffee or tea; local vendors are available but can be crowded.
