Shri Vishalakshi Mata Shaktipeeth Temple
Highlights
Overview
The Shri Vishalakshi Mata Shaktipeeth Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu shrines, revered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Located at Mir Ghat on the banks of the Ganges, it is dedicated to Goddess Vishalakshi, a manifestation of Goddess Parvati. According to mythology, this is where the earrings (Manikundala) or eyes of Goddess Sati fell. The temple is part of a famous spiritual triad alongside Kanchi Kamakshi and Madurai Meenakshi. Known for its South Indian architectural influence, the temple houses a "Sri Yantram" installed by Adi Shankaracharya. It is often visited along with the nearby Kashi Vishwanath and Annapurna Devi temples.
