Overview

Rangaroon is a serene, offbeat hamlet perched at an altitude of 6,000 feet (1,828 m), just 16 km from Darjeeling. Known for its heritage Rangaroon Tea Estate, established in 1876, it holds the distinction of housing the first botanical garden in the Darjeeling hills. The village offers a "postcard-perfect" view where Darjeeling town glitters in the foreground while the majestic Mt. Kanchenjunga looms in the background. Surrounded by the emerald forests of the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, it is a sanctuary for birdwatchers and those seeking an authentic, slow-paced Himalayan experience away from city crowds.
