Ganesh Tok
Highlights
Overview
Ganesh Tok is a charming Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, perched at an altitude of 6,500 feet on a ridge overlooking Gangtok. Built between 1952 and 1953, it is known for being remarkably small—so much so that devotees often have to crawl to enter the inner sanctum, which fits only one person at a time. Beyond its spiritual importance, it is a premier vantage point offering a bird's-eye view of Gangtok city and the majestic Kanchenjunga peaks. The path leading to the shrine is adorned with vibrant Tibetan prayer flags, creating a colourful "rainbow" effect for visitors as they ascend.
